2010 MGA Tournament Eligibility

The Heathrow Men’s Golf Association has a vested interested in assuring fair and balanced competitions for all of our Members.  To that end, we continue to support the established Tournament Eligibility Requirements for all MGA tournaments as well as special requirements for our five Majors.  This information is also referred to in the MGA Constitution.

Basic Tournament Eligibility:

· All participants must be Members of the MGA (which requires that you are 18 years of age or older), and have paid their annual dues in full.  Certain Tournaments will have Junior flights which will enable participants under the age of 18 to compete.

· All participants must have a valid and verifiable USGA handicap, and must be in compliance with the MGA Handicap Policy.

· In the event a new Member has not yet established a Handicap, the Member may participate in Non - Major events at 75% of his estimated Handicap.

Major Tournament Eligibility:

· All participants must meet the above Basic Tournament requirements.

· All participants must record and post a minimum of 6 valid scores within three months prior to the Tournament date, either from Heathrow Country Club or Away courses.

Mixed Tee Competition:

· Certain designated Tournaments will allow for mixed tee competition.  Other Tournaments will have flighted divisions either by age or Tee players.

· During the course of normal non-tournament play, our Members are strongly encouraged to play from the set of tees that are best suited for their ability as reflected by their handicap index. Age is not a determining factor regarding the set of tees from which a member plays.

· In MGA Tournaments, participants will compete from the set of tees from which the majority (10 or more rounds) of their last 20 rounds have been posted.

· As dictated by USGA Policy, during Mixed Tee Competition Blue Tee players will add 2 strokes to their Course Handicap.
